Village Appellation : Côte de Beaune in the Côte d'Or
Location
Located at the foot of a cliff, Saint-Romain occupies a high position in Côte de Beaune. This is landscape of great panoramas. 100,000 years ago, it was home to bears and lions. Now, it welcomes centres of human activity that have been very active since the Neolithic. It was one of the first Celtic and Gallo-Roman vineyard sites in Burgundy. Instituted in 1947, the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée SAINT-ROMAIN includes a red wine (Pinot Noir) and a white wine (Chardonnay). The Climat (locality related to a terroir) is often shown on the label.
The Terroir
For geology lovers, this is a real treat. This is Lias country. Our vineyard is located on the slope, taking advantage of its warm climate and excellent soils. In this marly limestone soil, clay banks are perfect for Chardonnays. The vines enjoy a South/South East and North/North East exposure, at an altitude of about 280 to 400 metres.

Serve With
White: its mineral quality makes it a perfect accompaniment for delicate fish, fried or - even better - steamed. It also pairs well with omelettes, poached eggs and lightly grilled or marinated vegetables. And it is also very good with soft cheeses such as camembert, whose creamy texture will be balanced perfectly by the slightly mineral acidity of this beautiful wine. Serve at: 12 - 14°C.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WINE
White: pale gold with green highlights. The nose presents a full range of limewood and white flowers, with a few mineral accents. In the mouth it offers a good mineral quality, smoothed over time to reveal a good mellowness.
